R*E*P*E*A*T Records and independent local talent are celebrating their industry with the release of a new instalment to their Flexi Thing series, “Look Sharp”.

Out April 21st for RSD ‘18, on a limited 250 run of red flexi-vinyl, “Look Sharp” showcases two of the chiefest champions from our area. Bury St Edmunds bright punk things, Gaffa Tape Sandy and Cambridge cathartic rockers, Goldblume.

Track one is the first vinyl release for Gaffa Tape’s “Smart Dressed Guy” and a good one to honour that milestone. Depicting an independent allegiance and promising future, their DIY smarts are potent from the onset, with crashing, echoing grooves of punk and twistingly luculent hooks and riffs. They record really well, with the same budding complexion they express live. It’s inventive, catchy, fun, definitely deserving of all the emerging industry hype they’re getting. With an impressively lined-up summer of shows, it’s not just the needle that’ll continue to rattle riotously with their sounds this year and beyond.

Ending with lingering, fidgety feedback, the record spins into the dark for track two – Goldblume’s “Razor”. This variant and exclusive peek from their forthcoming debut album characterises the band’s constitution. An urgency of noise that tightens and loosens with brooding abstraction. Hefty metal, garage and emotion, played and deranged with distrait and moony lyrics. Another exemplary offering for how our close creatives can shake up the ears of music fans. Like GTS, Goldblume are also busy with gigs this summer. Keeping such physical teases coming, they’ll be plenty geared up for the release of their as-yet untitled debut due autumn.

So “Look Sharp” this RSD by shopping local. As superbly illustrated by this release, it’ll have you keeping a pulse on and feeling the pride for what independent music is all about. See you at the stores.

Look Sharp: You Flexi Thing Vol 4 will be available from participating indie record stores, with remaining copies available from the R*E*P*E*A*T Bandcamp and from the bands at gigs.
