MC iPod is a pop-rap act from Cambridge (although he’s also spent time based in Norwich and Southampton). Prom Night 2002 is his first new material since 2012’s 56 second single Scene of the Crime (the last new material prior to that was way back in 2009).

Prom Night 2002 features four new tracks, one of which was recently released – albeit in a different form – on the début mixtape from rap collective False Adults, of which MC iPod is a part. This version, however, features guest vocals from the pioneer of “post punk laptop rap” MC Lars as well as False Adults MC Dronic.

Other guest vocalists include Aaahh!!! label-mate Asher Baker and #heftyrealtalk, the new project from Derrick Johnston of Tragical History Tour. Here, MC iPod talks us through each of the EPs tracks…

WHERE YA BEEN, iPOD?
“If you know anything about me, pretty much all of MC iPod is a lame attempt at being MC Lars. So I figured I’d rip off his track “Where Ya Been, Lars?” and even got him to guest on this.”

BAND PEOPLE PROBLEMS
“I’ve been in a LOT of bands over the years which have all failed miserably, so thought I may as well write a song about it. The song name is ‘borrowed’ from another big influence of mine, Team Goldie.”

#DIY
“DIY in all its forms is tackled here, from self recording/releasing music, to IKEA, via DIY dentistry. My good friends Asher Baker, Heftyrealtalk and Dronic all do guest spots on this too.”

WHO KILLED MIGHTY DUCKS 4?
“Have you ever seen those Duck movies? Watch them, and then read about the planned-but-cancelled fourth instalment, and this will all make sense.”
