The Amazons to play The Portland

Previews One of 2017's most tipped bands plays Cambridge on March 14th

After being including in the likes of the BBC Sound of 2017 Poll and Apple Music and Deezer’s picks for 2017 The Amazons are easily one of the most hotly-tipped guitar bands of the year and they play The Portland this month.

Consisting of pre-Raphaelite poster boy and frontman Matt Thomson, guitarist Chris Alderton, coy bassist Elliot Briggs and Totnes tearaway drummer Joe Emmett, The Amazons are four young men on a mission to reinvigorate rock and roll as they straddle influences as diverse as Queens of the Stone Age, Arcade Fire, Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction and Tame Impala.

Their new single, ‘Black Magic’ is the latest in a growing collection of killer singles as the Reading band gear up for the release of their debut album, due this summer. In addition to the new single, The Amazons are heading out on their biggest UK tour to date including a stop here in Cambridge at The Portland Arms on March 14th, tickets here.
