Flit – Martin Green (Lau)’s project with Adrian Utley (Portishead), Dominic Aitchison (Mogwai), Becky Unthank and Adam Holmes – and whiterobot, the Bafta winning animators starts its tour in Cambridge on 22 October. The show is a multimedia show featuring film and live music that is inspired by first-hand stories of human migration, some heart-warming, others heartbreaking and features songs and original music by Green with lyrics from Karine Polwart, Anaïs Mitchell, Sandy Wright and Aidan Moffat.

Martin started by collecting stories of migration from his grandmother which led to him exploring the phenomenon of movement around the globe. He teamed up with some great songwriters including Karine Polwart and Aidan Moffat to create a moving, heart breaking and heart-warming evening. Adam and Becky’s voices are amazing. And whiterobot brings beautiful brown paper characters to life making it a real visual feast too – it has been described as gig theatre.

Best known as accordionist and electronic experimentalist with the visionary folk trio Lau, Martin Green is increasingly recognised as a composer, arranger and collaborator in his own right.
The dark, atmospheric new songs which sit at the heart of FLIT have been inspired by first hand stories of human movement around the world. Collaborating with BAFTA-winning animators whiterobot the visually rich, multi-layered production will integrate animated film with the live band on stage. The show plays the Cambridge Junction on October 22nd.
