Holy Esque have shared details of their first ever physical release – an EP entitled ‘Submission’, out 17th July, via limited 10” vinyl.
Coming after last year’s single ‘Sovereign’, Holy Esque continue to push their sound into exciting new territories, which first saw the Glaswegian four-piece emerge as one of the independent scene’s most exciting bands.
Climactic hooks air over a driving, dynamic rhythm throughout opener ‘Fade’; veering the track between the chaotic dark feel of 80’s British post-punk and modern electro-pop – all capped by Pat Hynes’ ever distinctive, charismatic vocal performance.
Speaking on the ‘Fade’ video, Hynes commented: “we wanted to channel the raw energy of a live performance into this video. There’s a real sense of intensity and feeling in the track that we think we’ve harnessed and the darkness of our little studio was the perfect setting.”
Recorded in Copenhagen’s STC Studios and mixed by double-Grammy award producer Jon Schumann (Kashmir, Mew), the collection of songs on the EP display a set of irresistible and infectious melodies that hint at the potential of the bands debut album and again mark why Holy Esque have gained nods from the likes of BBC Radio 1, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Sunday Times and NME Magazine, amongst a host of others.
