Stand Up is the second single to be released from A.J. Ellis, ex Five O’Clock Heroes front man, turned solo artist.

An undeniably jaunty track, hinting at Ellis’ subtle new country and anti-folk leanings, mixed with infection guitar-pop. Comparisons have already been made to Elvis Costello, with Ellis’ rough hewn vocals and upbeat songwriting evoking the former, but there are also touches of the yesteryear nostalgia of Richard Hawley.

After premiering on US website American Songwriter, Stand Up will get its official UK release on 16th June. It is taken from A.J. Ellis’ forthcoming debut solo album Bury The Devil which is set for release in the Summer 2014. Both via Ragtime Records.
